Gearing Up For Preschool @ Home
The New Year is a great time to start anything new, especially a new routine.
In anticipation for our alphabetically inspired year, we dedicated a lot of the Holiday purchases to fuel the preschool learning process.
New things added to the home for the little one: Art Easel with chalk board, wax crayon blocks, assorted crayons, chalk, watercolor paints, poster board paints, white glue, glue sticks, paint brushes, colored pencils, pencil sharpener, markers for mum, paper, chenille sticks, popsicle sticks and other crafty stuff.
We have a good supple of workbooks, coloring books and printables via the internet.
I got some great craft ideas from a book titled "Art Across The Alphabet" by ~~~. I borrowed the book from the library and copied several pages of notes. I recommend purchasing this book if you have the money ~ or if you're broke like me, just take notes. I have been reading several other books about natural child play and very old hippie book about Puppets in early education.
Puppets are great. We added a rooster, a bald eagle, a dinosaur and a praying mantis plush puppets to our little one's collection of mitten puppets. I would like to find some cloth finger puppets.
Even though the easel is taking up a good part of the kitchen, we are so thrilled to have it. Thanks Grandma Cara!! We also hooked up a free velvet board from the library to use with felt cut outs.
I've found some really great resources for songs, rhymes, books and activities to help tie in our letter learning and will be happy to share our alphabet experience with you.
Here's to the ABC's and 26 weeks of learning fun!
